Monday, July 15 to Sunday, July 21 – Musical film festival. Presented by the Harare Film Society to warm you up this winter. Theatre Upstairs at Reps. A set of 10 musicals from the past six decades, to which everyone is welcome.
Book at The Spotlight. Each film is $10 for members of the HFS or $15 for non-members, and there are season tickets for anyone attending a minimum of three. Come to one, come to two or come to them all. On the Saturday there will be a fun afternoon/evening in the Reps bar between the matinee and the evening films:
Mande Snyman will sing (including Patsy Cline songs featured in that night’s movie!) and there will be food and drinks on sale.
Monday July 15 (7pm): Darling Lili – Julie Andrews (1969);
Tuesday July 16 (7pm): a tribute to the late Doris Day in The Pyjama Game;
Wednesday July 17 (7pm): the 1970s version of the controversial 60s stage show Hair;
Thursday July 18: Barbra Streisand in Hello Dolly;
Friday July 19: back-to-back (see one or both) of Barbra Streisand’s Funny Girl (6pm) and Funny Lady (8.45pm);
Saturday July 20: 2.30pm – Debbie Reynolds in The Singing Nun;
7pm – Sweet Dreams, the Jessica Lange biopic about Patsy Cline (music, food and drinks in the bar between these two films);
Sunday July 21: 2.30pm Godspell and 5.30pm Jesus Christ Superstar, two 70s musicals based on hit stage shows that captured the world’s imagination.
