Description
Begin your journey at the tranquil stables and wind through the open communal lands of the Chisuma area, located on the outskirts of Victoria Falls. Over 1 to 1.5 hours, traverse dusty village paths, lush grazing lands, and scenic ridges overlooking the stunning Batoka Gorge, offering breathtaking views of the Zambezi River in the distance.
As you ride through the villages, pass traditional mud and thatch homesteads, where locals often greet visitors with warm smiles. See hand-dug wells, family-run gardens, and livestock kraals, offering insight into the rhythm of daily rural life.
Your guide will share stories and explain traditional farming techniques, seasonal planting cycles, and the importance of cattle and goats in community livelihoods. Children may be playing nhodo (a local game using stones) or singing songs taught across generations. Depending on the time of your visit, you may even witness a community event or gathering.
Beyond the cultural richness, this ride offers natural splendour, open plains, acacia woodlands, and panoramic lookouts over the rugged Batoka Gorge. Bird lovers may spot species like hornbills, bee-eaters, or fish eagles, while lucky riders might catch glimpses of hyenas or elephants spore along the trails. However, this is not a Safari and there are unlikely options to see wildlife.
For a truly magical touch, see the sunrise and sunset, where the golden African dawn paints the sky in fiery hues as you ride through the waking bush. It’s a moment of peace, beauty, and connection with the land, perfect for photography, reflection, or simply soaking in the wonder.
