Description
Zambezi National Park covers 56,000 hectares alongside Victoria Falls National Park. It features two main game-viewing areas and a network of roads by the Zambezi River. Roads are generally in reasonable condition but may close after heavy rains due to seasonal weather.
Safari departure is 30 minutes earlier than other local companies to increase chances of viewing more wildlife. The game drive lasts three to four hours in an open 4x4 vehicle with a licensed guide who handles park formalities and provides an official briefing upon entering. Wildlife includes elephants, lions, buffalo, leopard, multiple antelope species, and other game.
The park is unfenced and animals move freely, so sightings depend on the time and place. The Zambezi River supports over 75 fish species, notably bream and tiger fish.
Along the river drive, one of 25 numbered sites is selected for a break with a light snack. Morning safaris start at 6:00 AM offering muffins, fruit, hard-boiled eggs, tea or coffee, and mineral water. Afternoon safaris leave at 3:00 PM serving soft drinks, beer, mineral water, and snacks. Breaks occur under shady trees such as Natal Mahogany.
The rainy season runs November to April and can affect road conditions and wildlife visibility. Safaris operate rain or shine. Small-group tours include expert guiding and support in multiple languages including German, French, and Spanish.
