Highlights

  • Experience the Zambezi River’s smooth flow before it reaches Victoria Falls
  • Explore Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park with a local professional guide
  • Enjoy panoramic views of Victoria Falls National Park from main viewpoints
  • Learn how the Zambezi River shaped the landscape over 200 million years

Description

Your tour begins about one kilometer before the falls, viewing the calm Zambezi River flowing quietly toward the edge. This rare perspective highlights the contrast between the tranquil river and the impending dramatic drop. Your guide explains the river’s journey and the formation of basalt gorges surrounding the area.

Next, explore Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park on the Zambian side with a knowledgeable guide. Walk rainforest paths nourished by spray and visit scenic viewpoints revealing various angles of the falls and the gorge carved by the river over thousands of years. Learn about the falls’ formation, local ecology, and cultural significance of “The Smoke That Thunders.”

The walk continues to Victoria Falls Bridge, situated at Gorge Number Seven, an excellent photo spot overlooking the canyon carved by the Zambezi. Cross the bridge into Zimbabwe on foot, stopping at No Man’s Land, the midpoint between the two countries, for photos beside “Welcome to Zambia” and “Welcome to Zimbabwe” signs. After border formalities, continue into Victoria Falls National Park for panoramic views of the falls’ main curtain, where the river plunges dramatically into the gorge. Return transport to your hotel in Livingstone or Victoria Falls concludes the tour.
