Private Safari in Zambezi National Park near Victoria Falls

This private safari takes place in Zambezi National Park, just a five-minute drive from Victoria Falls town, ideal for nature enthusiasts seeking flexible, guided wildlife viewing.

Description

Explore the 56,000-hectare unfenced wilderness of Zambezi National Park on a private safari with your own vehicle and expert guide. Tours are available for 4, 7, or 10 hours, with longer durations increasing your chances of spotting diverse wildlife. The park features habitats including the Zambezi River, shrubland, and savannah, supporting over 400 bird species and numerous mammals.

Your guide will share detailed knowledge of mammals, birds, plants, and conservation. The park hosts four of the Big Five animals, with elephants and buffalo most commonly seen. Other frequently spotted mammals include chacma baboon, mongoose, zebra, impala, wildebeest, waterbuck, eland, kudu, giraffe, and warthog. Your guide can help locate rarer species such as jackal, African wild dog, serval, hyena, and sable antelope.

The game drive route follows the Zambezi River, which forms the park’s northern boundary and the border with Zambia. In the dry season, animals gather near the river, increasing viewing opportunities. Hippos, crocodiles, and many bird species are often visible along the river shore. The Zambezi waters are home to over 75 fish species, including the tiger fish. There are 25 designated stops along the river, ideal for breaks and wildlife observation.

Visibility of mammals is better in the dry season (August to October) when they concentrate near water. The rainy season (November to March) reduces mammal sightings due to wider dispersal and can cause rougher road conditions. However, the rainy season is preferred for birdwatching as resident species breed and migratory birds arrive.
