Local tip
The Cecil John Rhodes Suite is the best room to offer when on honeymoon as it is very secluded, has it’s own private gazebo where one can view the waterhole and the animals that visit during the day. A lot of the rooms are accessed by stairs, so please let us know if anyone has difficulties.

Camp Amalinda is set amongst some of the most magnificent granite scenery in the world & is set in the majestic Matobo Hills. Matopos combines your historical, cultural, birding, and rhino experience all in one. Famous for being the final resting place of Cecil John Rhodes and incorporating one of the highest concentrations of San Bushman cave paintings, Matopos offers you the chance to get lost in the stories of the trials and tribulations of two different bygone eras.

Camp Amalinda consists of nine individually thatched rooms including three suites. Each room has been individually designed around great boulders and each differs in the ambiance in order to create a unique feel without losing the vital soul of Africa herself. The lounge and entertainment area is tucked away into a bushman shelter with a panoramic view of the Matobo Hills. Delicious meals are served on a massive teak table called 'The Captains Table' in the open-air dining room.

A cozy library contains some of the old 'African classics', while a secluded chess room, located among the tree tops guarantees peace and tranquility. For the wine connoisseur, we recommend a visit to our natural cave wine cellar. At the base of the camp is Amalinda's famous 'rock' swimming pool, naturally shaped and carved over centuries by rain and wind erosion from a massive granite dome.

Camp Amalinda also offers a rejuvenating Safari Spa where guests can relax and take advantage of our array of sensual treatments. Camp Amalinda is a spiritual sanctuary that incorporates the sensitive beauty of the magnificent Matobo Hills and Africa's wide open spaces.

Situated 45kms from Bulawayo and the closest commercial airport is Bulawayo International Airport.
