Chikwenya Safari Lodge
Ideal place to go if you are a keen tiger fisherman and the best months of the year are September, October and November.
The Wilderness Safaris Group recently took over management of the beautiful Chikwenya tented camp in the Mana Pools National Park. The camp has undergone an extensive facelift which has seen many improvements to the design, functionality and upgrades to the rooms and guest facilities. Chikwenya is a stunning camp located in a private concession to the east of the park overlooking a floodplain.
Chikwenya is an eco-tourism venture which is premised upon giving visitors an authentic wilderness experience in a comfortable environment. Many of the décor features at Chikwenya are locally crafted using local resources and they demonstrate impeccable artistry and every detail is made to blend with the natural beauty of the region.
The camp is surrounded by ancient Albida trees and accommodation comprises 7 luxury tents, including a family tent. The ensuite rooms have bath and basin, Queen-size beds and a small patio. Guest amenities include a Bar, swimming pool and cosy sun loungers which look out onto the river, a fire pit where guests can marvel at starry nights or sit back with their beverage of choice after eventful afternoons.
The Mana Pools area is well known for its biodiversity and as a result, it offers guests a wonderful opportunity to seek out hundreds of animal, bird and plant species. Nature lovers will enjoy the activities on offer; these are bush walks, birding walks, game drives, and canoeing to get a colder look at the riverine plant life. Those who just want to unwind are welcome to some fishing (on catch and release basis) and sunset cruises. Chikwenya is open between April and Mid November, some activities are seasonal.
