The Stimela Star is a luxury rail transfer service that will be running between Victoria Falls and Hwange from May 2018. It is no ordinary sleeper train as it not only gives passengers passage but a remarkable opportunity to experience the glory of yesteryear journey by rail. The Stimela star is a refurbished coach which has 2 sleeper coaches that come with twin beds, baggage compartments, 3-power points, safes for passengers and basic ablution facilities. The train sleeps 24 guests in total. The coach is also equipped with a bar, kitchen dining car and a dancing floor space.
A ride on the Stimela star is a grand adventure that begins the moment passengers arrive at the embarkment station and receive a warm welcome. Passengers are treated to some refreshments, given the chance to settle in before they can wine and dine around 8pm. Dinner is 3-course meal and there is a full bar service at guests disposal. After dinner Guests are ushered to the lounge where they are entertained; they can also mingle, chat over coffee or some stronger night cap.
When guests call it a night the uniqueness of this journey becomes apparent as the sleeper train chugs away in the night guests rest in their compartments; guests oft find the movement of the train is soothing. The train makes a few short stops on its way and eventually comes to its resting place just before dawn. A cooked Breakfast is the last meal offered to passengers, a meal they will enjoy in peace. Afterwards Imvelo guests booked for Camelthorn or Bomani will be directed to the Elephant Express the rail car, which ferries them to Ngamo. Imvelo guests booked for Nehimba will at this juncture head for their AM game drive to Nehimba.
