Directions to Chiwawe Camp and Numwa House
Chiwawe Wilderness Camp is a Tented Camp which comprises six luxury ensuite tented chalets. Each chalet is a double so the camp accommodates twelve people in total. Chiwawe is an open camp, so animals freely walk around the camp. There is a Central tent which houses the living area, kitchen and fireplace. The camp runs on solar power and hot water for showers is available, the staff will turn on the old school boilers for guests. There is a fire pit where guests can have a bonfire or Barbeque. There is a place for fishing within the campgrounds (guests to bring their own gear)
N.B Animals that may wander into the camp are plains game Giraffe, Nyala, etc.
Numwa House is a beautiful Farmhouse which comes with five bedrooms. It is fenced off from the rest of the conservancy giving a sense of privacy. The bedrooms are configured as follows;
- 4 twin rooms
- 1 dorm-style room it sleeps 5 guests with ensuite bathroom
- Numwa accommodates thirteen guests in all.
There is a shared bathroom downstairs as well as additional showers and two toilets outside. The house has a spacious living room which is decked with fireplace and bar. It also has a fully equipped kitchen, there will be a chef on-site to assist with meals as well as take care of cleaning or can cook all meals*. Guests can choose to have a braai dinner and staff will assist with firewood and getting the fire started. Numwa is electrified and there is a backup generator in case of a power outage. Guests are to seek assistance from staff for switching on the generator (at designated times only)
For recreation there is a swimming pool and a dam nearby, canoes and kayaks are available for water sports and relaxation. Onsite fishing is allowed but guests should bring in their own gear. There is plenty of room for children to relax and play lawn area and garden.
Self-catering guests are advised to check-in at Sable Lodge first where they will be escorted by their guide to their designated accommodation.
N.B There’s no Wifi at Chiwawe and Numwa however mobile internet connection can be accessed. *Please note additional services of the chef are not included in the rate.
