Matombo Camp
The Camp accommodates a total of eight people on a self-catering basis mostly but guests can opt for full board. Guests sleep in large Meru-style tents that have been incorporated into brick structures, the tents have ensuite facilities (flush toilets and outdoor shower). The main camp area is a gazebo which has a lounge plus dining area.
Other guest facilities include a swimming pool that overlooks the river as well as two recreational boats, an 18-foot Pelican with a 60hp Yamaha (2019 model) and a 16 foot “Ali boat” with a 40hp Yamaha (2020 model). Both boats come with skippers and a packed lunch box, beer and wine tumblers.
Matombo is the perfect base for some fishing and boat cruising vacations and there are also a number of places of interest in the area to visit. These include old slave forts and the Kauraka salt mine which are all easily accessible. Please note the camp is in an area frequented by wild animals like elephants, buffalo, lions that walk through the camp from time to time.
Guest who would like to book can do so on an exclusive basis (use of entire lodge) or pay per person per night on a full board or self-catering basis.
