Pumping Legs for Water 2016

Friday 22 July to Saturday 23 July
Zimbabwe Hwange National Park Shop 2, 11th Avenue between Fife St and G. Silundika St. Hwange

Pumping Legs for Water is a two day, 100 km sponsored mountain bike ride, within the Main Camp area of Hwange National Park. The event is organized by the Matabeleland branch of Wildlife & Environment Zimbabwe (WEZ) and profits from the ride go towards supporting WEZ projects, including the Hwange Game Water Supply Programme, which carries out repairs and maintenance to pumped pans within the Park, providing life-giving water to the animals there.

This year the ride will take place on Friday 22 & Saturday 23 July, with a briefing at Main Camp on the evening of Thursday 21 July, which all participants are expected to attend. The entry fee is $150. This is not a race. For safety reasons cyclists will be riding in groups of 20 to 25 riders. Each group will be accompanied by a leading and trailing vehicle with armed escorts. Cyclists must remain within these groups at all times

WEZ is appealing to the public to support this event by:
Sponsoring of Cyclists. While this is not a race it is also not an easy ride. The cyclists require to put a lot of effort into completing this ride; by sponsoring them you can help make all their efforts worthwhile, as well as making a meaningful contribution to wildlife conservation

Donating Prizes or Goods. As this is not a race there is no winner but two trophies are awarded - One, firstly, for the person who brings in the most sponsorship (Best Supporter) and, secondly, a trophy for the person who best represents the Spirit of the Ride. Prizes are also awarded to other riders for special achievements. Donations are also needed for the water points and catering, while goods which can be used by the Game Water Supply Unit (such as diesel, engine oil, shovels or tools) are also much appreciated

Closing of Entries and Final Payments. Please note final date for entries is 15th May 2016. Any entries received after this date will be gladly accepted, but the Committee cannot guarantee that the rider will receive a Ride Cycling Shirt and other pre-ordered gifts in the 'goodie bags'. Final date for payment is 31st May 2016. Cash payments can be made via Peter Ziz at Battetry Centre, Shop 2, 11th Avenue between Fife St and G. Silumndika St. Or direct payments may banked into e account of : Wildlife & Environment Zimbabwe, Barclays Bank, Acc. No. 2307 - 2223098, Sort Code 2322, Swift Code BARCZWHX
